Inactive members and alts

I'm sorry to announce, but in light of some recent developments and research about how guilds level and also to help minimize clutter, we are implementing some new rules regarding inactive characters and alternate characters.

Inactive characters actually seem to slow down guild progress.

In light of this news players that are inactive for 10 days or more will now be removed from the guild. To avoid being removed, we request that you either post a message here on our forums, send a message in game to either myself (Sunphyre) or Gehmnal, or email us at sunphyre@crimsonphoenixguild.com or gehmnal@crimsonphoenixguild.com, telling us why you are going to be away for an extended period of time and let us know when you expect to be back.

Now on the topic of alternate characters, none of us are level 40 yet, so we think that most of us are concentrating on one main character for the most part. We do allow for alts in the guild but we would prefer to keep the number to a maximum of 2. Keep in mind that alts that are not in use are going to be removed as well, under the new rule of 10 days or less. We will also be keeping a record of their levels to make sure that they are being played and advancing and that people are not just logging them in to change the last logged on date in hopes of them not being removed from the guild.

Once a player has one character that has reached level 40, we feel that if you are working towards getting another character to level 40 that your first character can remain in an inactive state for up to 30 days. We would like to think though that you would still be involved in the take over of the T4 zones and other guild and alliance events.

Once our guild has reached a reasonable level (which is still yet to be determined) we will raise the time limit on inactive characters.

We are sorry if any of these new rules upset or anger anyone, but we are just doing what we feel is best to help the guild progress at a more reasonable rate. Now we know that real life is first and always will be, but please keep in mind that we are an active guild and we still want to progress, so be considerate and keep us informed. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

* Policy, and removals, will be put in effect as of November 21, 2008.

Thunder Mountain Locked!

Tonite (Monday Nov 10, 2008) the alliance of Socius Regnum, combined with members of Mithril Warhammers and Granite Guard, were able to lock Thunder Mountain. Not contained to just Tier 4, the effort to lock the zone and move on to Black Crag consisted of efforts in all Dwarf tiers; Ekrund, Marshes, and Badlands.

A good solid effort was put forth and in the end the forces of Order were victorious. After locking Thunder Mountain down, we waged war in Black Crag, taking all of the battlefield objectives and both keeps.

Congratulations to everyone who helped in the effort, from Tier 1 all the way up to Tier 4! Perhaps if luck would have it, Black Crag can be taken and the fortress is next.
Guild Level 10!

I just want to send out a congratulations to everyone for getting the guild to level 10! Special thanks to Thumgar and Balshazar who pushed us over the edge from 9, but everyone had a part in it, so thanks to everyone.

Since I'm in Ottawa until tomorrow, the heraldry won't be set up probably until Saturday because I check out of the hotel tomorrow morning, go to training all day, then arrive back home around 11:30pm. Besides, Sunphyre really wants to be a part of the heraldry creation and she can't while I'm out of town. We'll get it done as soon as possible and put up screenshots of it, both in the Heraldry Creator and on our standard out in the field.

[edit] As promised, here are some screenshots of the Guild Heraldry:

Guild Heraldry with emblem

Guild Heraldry as shown on the Standard (no emblem until GL20)

Thanks and congratulations again!
Crimson Phoenix joins the Socius Regnum alliance

Earlier this week I was talking with Paulus and other officers of the Templars, seeking the possibility of an alliance with their illustrious guild. Since the officers of Crimson Phoenix have, from the start, wanted the focus of the guild to be RvR oriented asking to join the Templars made sense. We have joined Paulus' warbands on a few occasions, and feel that he is a good charismatic leader with a sound mind for tactics and strategy.

This morning, Paulus was kind enough to inform me that himself, Firebaelz (guild leader of Karma), and Thaor (guild leader of Clan Karak Kazak) have accepted our application to join the alliance of Socius Regnum, which means Allies of Order.

To kick off what will hopefully be a great friendship between guilds, Sunphyre and I trucked on over to Thunder Mountain to assist in the siege of Bloodfist Rock, as well as take control of all four Battlefield Objectives.
Witching Night Masks

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I've been working on getting my influence up a bit for the Witching Night event that's currently on (both RvR PQ and NPC mobs). As such, I have a number of [item]Leather Mask of the Gobbo[/item] sitting around in my bags (the Restless Spirits that randomly spawn and also are triggered from using the cauldrons drop them quite frequently) and would be more than happy to share them with the guild.

If anyone by the end of the Live Event doesn't have a mask (or this mask specifically), let me know either via whisper, in-game mail, or here on the website and I'll be sure to send you one.

As a side note, if you're at all into Open RvR, I highly recommend heading out to the appropriate zones for your current Tier (listed on the WARHerald, sorry I can't remember them offhand and can't access the Herald from work) and checking it out. Even if the PQ isn't currently running when you get there, there should be a fair amount of action (Tier 3 has been rocking Wednesday and Thursday nights in Black Fire Pass) and the experience and renown you gain should be incredible.
Guild Photo - Oct 26, 2008

On the evening of October 26, 2008 the members of Crimson Phoenix (those who could make it) congregated in the Altdorf War Quarter for a guild photo. Aligning ourselves at the main fountain, Sunphyre took a dandy of a screenshot:

Top row: Hammerstorm, Poag, Sunphyre, Gehmnal, Bonny
Bottom row: Teronis, Svestra, Adaeon

Afterwards we decided to head to Mount Gunbad to get some experience and hopefully some loot for our lower-end Tier 3 members. All in all, it was a successful romp that was called after an accidental wipe in the undead/skeleton area (third PQ) of the right wing. Some very nice loot was obtained from the end of the first two Public Quests, as some purple and blue bags dropped and were won by guild members.

A couple of screenshots from our trip to Mount Gunbad can be found in the Guild Photo Album.

Thanks for the fun event everyone, we'll have to do it again soon!
3 vs 1 - A story of revenge

Ok, so this isn't really newsworthy or an accomplishment per se, but Hammerstorm, Sunphyre and myself were exploring the Badlands, specifically the ravine in the north east corner of the zone. We wound up coming across this ugly fellow named Sharptoof. Well, being a level 32 Hero, and us being only 3 Dwarfs (levels 30, 26, and 26) we decided to try to kill the foul beast.

As you can see we were unsuccessful. It was actually a Champion add that wandered onto the bridge that we were fighting on that ultimately caused our demise (we were killing him steadily if not slowly prior to that) as Sunphyre's healing just couldn't keep up with the extra damage I was taking.

Sharptoof, we will be coming back and we will be gunning for you.
Guild Level 8

I told myself that I wasn't going to celebrate every Guild Level we get as that can get pretty tedious, but I think I'd like to at least count down to GL10 (when we get to reserve our heraldry and display all but the emblem on the standard).

So, a quick congratulations on achieving Guild Level 8 last night. While the non-tactic reward isn't that impressive (Guild Auctions, so we have the option to sell stuff only to each other on the Auctioneers) it is one step closer to GL10. The tactic we chose is Enhanced Endurance I which increases Toughness by 5%. I'll be carrying this on to [spell]Enhanced Endurance III[/spell] for 15%, as the less damage taken works for everyone.

If we can keep it up at this pace, we should be able to get GL10 in maybe two to three weeks, which isn't too bad considering the size of the guild.
Of Guild Level 6, Standard Tactics, and Standard Bearers

First, I just wanted to congratulate everyone on a job well done in attaining Guild Level 6. The main perk at this point is entry to Sigmar's Hammer in the War Quarter of Altdorf. In here you will find a Quartermaster that sells Guild Recall Scrolls to "gate" back from the field, as well as Renown Gear Merchants for seemingly every Tier of equipment. Up the flight of stairs you'll also find a Flight Master, and a closed door to the Officer's Quarters, available at Guild Level 14.

Second, with Guild Level 6 comes another choice for a Standard Tactic. I've chosen Enhanced Vigor II, improving upon the first to +20% Ability Point regeneration. However, to plan for the future a bit I've posted a thread requesting feedback from everyone as to what our future Standard Tactic choices should be. I think we should definitely go all the way to Enhanced Vigor III for +30%, but after that the choice is less clear as to what would be the best benefit for everyone overall. Please give your input to assist with this.

Thirdly, I have yet to assign our third Standard Bearer. I have posted this thread requesting your opinions on who would possibly make a good standard bearer (perhaps not a specific person but a class in general) and to also throw your name in the hat if you're interested. Keep in mind, being a Standard Bearer is probably more a burden given that you will become that much bigger a target on the battlefield, and it won't provide you with additional privilege or favor in the guild.

Thanks all, and again job well done!
Site availability

Sorry about the site not really being available for the past day or so. I created a panel module that would grab the guild statistics (level, experience, renown) and display it on the right hand side. Well, of course shortly after the Mythic Realm War page went down so the script no longer worked and would basically hang everything else. I'll see if I can do something a little more "server side" to grab the information outside of page loads and/or cache the information so that if the Realm War page can't be contacted it doesn't take the rest of the site down.

I've disabled the panel for now so the rest of the site will work. Sorry about that.

[edit] I've rewritten the panel to get the information from WARdb instead.
